Abstract:
Space Situational Awareness (SSA) and Space Traffic Coordination (STC) are not new concepts and in fact have been conducted for decades. But we must not assume that “having a process” for SSA and STC equates to “having an effective process”. Too little emphasis has been placed on ensuring that the data and processes in place today are fit for purpose of ensuring space safety and security. This presentation will explore some of the SSA and STC degradations which can limit the effectiveness of these processes and explore what approaches can be used to maximize effectiveness, efficiency, timeliness and accuracy.
