Spatial Density Increase in Orbit: 2005 - Present

Id: 91

Published: 05/12/2026

Description:

This animation depicts how the space population in orbit has increased across the last 20 years by tracking spatial density. This spatial density model uses a color scale to present how many objects occupy a given 100 by 100 by 100 kilometer voxel in space. In this depiction, notable fragmentation events can be seen corresponding to high density streaks.
